Athlete

For a football player, the psychological aspect of the game is just as important as their physical ability. On many occasions, we have seen a player with extraordinary raw talent give disappointing performances. Athletes who possess strong personal qualities have that asset that will help them achieve that special performance.
Perceptual speed:
A first down takes only just a few seconds to achieve. Being able to make the right decision in a very short period of time and in a limited space is crucial if an athlete is to be successful in this sport. The GPS’s Perceptual Speed exercise provides a calculated way in which to measure this important quality within an athlete.
Problem Solving skills:
A player’s problem-solving skills are directly tied to their understanding of strategic plays, as well as their interpretation of the game as a whole. The more successful an athlete is in this area, the more capable that player will be of making the right decision or be in the right place at the right time. Finding a breach in the opponent’s defence, quickly overcoming a teammate’s misstep, and deciding without hesitation which opponent to block are all examples of quick decisions needed to be made by a player.
Motivation Factors:
Although physical ability and talent play a crucial role in an athlete’s success, the capacity to remain motivated throughout the long football season makes all the difference between an ordinary player and an extraordinary one. There are different motivational factors that can affect your performance as an athlete, and the GPS can help you to understand the ones that drive you the most.
Personal Factors:
It is important to know which mindset to adopt in order to achieve your full potential. While it is often difficult for an athlete to deal with poor performances, it is vital to be able to handle these situations appropriately so that they do not continue to have a negative impact on your results on the field. The nine (9) personal factors assessed by the GPS will provide you with an overview of your athletic personality.

Coaching Staff

As a football coach, you are under constant pressure for your team to be successful. Finding ways to lead your team to victory is no easy task. You need to assemble a group of athletes with different skill sets, motivations and personalities in order for them to be able to act as a single unit.

It is important to teach your players strategy, but it is also essential that you understand the level of complexity that your team is capable of assimilating. Thanks to the GPS’s problem-solving skills assessment exercise, you will be able to assess this component based on your player’s results. This will allow you to determine who on your team will need additional time or support in order to fully grasp your game strategy.

The ability to motivate your athletes is a crucial tool for any coach. To be successful, you will need to understand their different motivational factors, particularly those that will enable your team to reach its full potential. The GPS results will help you to accurately target the right factors that will motivate your troops.

Athlete Support

Whether you are a coach, a sports therapist or a physical fitness specialist, the key to your success is your ability to motivate your athlete to follow your program and to obtain the best possible results. This requires an understanding of the athlete’s motivations and personality traits, enabling you to adjust your approach specifically to each player. As part of an athlete’s support network, your usefulness will lie in your ability to contribute to the player’s success, both on and off the field. Professional Teams

As a team owner or executive, you want to see your team in the finals because of the pride you have in your franchise and the financial benefits which allows you to invest whatever is required to improve your team. With average pay of professional athletes in football constantly on the rise, why should a team not use a tool that can be used by coaches, scouts and managers to help select players that are a perfect fit for the team? Choosing the wrong player can impact your team but also become a financial burden.

The GPS can provide organizations with information on players’ motivational factors, problem-solving skills, personal factors and perceptual speed. Armed with this additional knowledge of your players’ personalities, your organization will be in a better position to identify the best way to lead your team and to identify areas for improvement.

Scouts

Scouts often have to make difficult decisions regarding the recruitment of new athletes. There are hundreds of good football players; the challenge remains as to how to identify the best so early in their development. Recruiters now look for that special something that will allow them to find that special player among the large number of players they have scouted.

The GPS allows recruiters to quickly evaluate the psychological characteristics of their protégés, which in turn helps them to target the type of organization that is the best match for the athlete.
